If you are on P-Plates, you are responsible for bringing your own and displaying them in the cars as required by law.
For freedom, flexibility and you’ll save thousands of dollars by not forking out on your own car. We pay for your registration, cleaning, maintenance, roadside assistance, even petrol. Just think of all the extra cash you’ll have to splash on fun stuff and important everyday needs like rent or running a business.
You can join as a personal member, a student or as a company or business. The application will only take a couple of minutes to put through, and you’ll receive a response in your email within a couple of days.

You can change your plan or cancel your membership at any time without penalty. Before you cancel, you may like to consider switching to the Intro plan, which requires no minimum monthly commitment. So if you don’t drive at all in a month then you pay nothing at all. That way, you’ll still have Flexicar available for you use without having to apply again, and you won’t have to pay a monthly cost unless you drive.

There is no joining fee to become a Flexicar member, you just need to pay your annual membership fee which includes comprehensive damage cover. You can even add additional drivers in your household membership with each driver needing to pay the annual membership fee and sharing your plan.
The great news is that if you are on a business account you will now no longer pay the annual fee for your drivers. Once you’ve signed up, choose a plan suited to the amount of driving you want to do each month and then just pay to drive, per hour or per day. That’s all.
Damage cover is included in your $70 annual membership fee, or $35 if you’re a student. There is no additional payment required. This gives you fully comprehensive damage cover and free 24/7 roadside assistance. There is a standard excess of $1200, or $1500 for drivers under 21. You can reduce your excess to $0 by opting to pay $2 an hour or $15 a day more on your bookings. If you’re on a Flexi Uni plan, you can pay a higher hourly rate for your car and reduce your excess to $400.

Our cars are located in their own parking spots called ‘pods’ throughout Melbourne. Check for cars and locations here.
We have different sized cars for different needs. All of our cars are automatic, and they’re all five-seaters. Most sedans and wagons have cruise control and bluetooth, and all cars have air conditioning and CD players. Check for cars and locations here.
All Flexicars are automatic.
You can pick up your Flexicar any time after you receive the PIN code SMS which will arrive 15 minutes before your booking start time. If you do pick up your Flexicar before the dedicated start time of your booking, you simply pay the pro-rata cost of the additional minutes which will be added to your booking cost, dependent on your plan and vehicle choice.
If you want to pick up your booked Flexicar more than 15 minutes earlier than the booking start time, you’ll need to give the friendly Member Care Team a call to do so. They will make sure that another member has not booked the Flexicar before you, and if so will provide options for other Flexicars in the area. Your final booking cost will be amended to cover the additional time.
Download our apps, jump on the Flexicar website or mobile website or call us and we’ll help you book (a $3 surcharge applies). Choose the location you want to pick up your car from. Book your car for a couple of hours, a whole day or even a long weekend (five-day maximum). You can book at the last minute, or up to a year in advance. If you need a car for longer than 5 days call our friends at Hertz on 13 30 39, tell them you’re a Flexicar member and you’ll receive a 20% discount on a booking of longer than 5 days anywhere in Australia… and 10% discount on any Hertz bookings overseas!
You can book our cars for a minimum of one hour. You can then select half hour increments after that. Bookings longer than seven hours are capped and charged at a daily rate. The maximum self-booking period on our website is five days. You can also call our friends at Hertz on 13 30 39, tell them you’re a Flexicar member and you’ll receive a 20% discount on a booking of three days or longer anywhere in Australia… and 10% discount on any Hertz bookings overseas!
If your chosen car isn’t available in the location that you want, there will be another one around the corner. We have over 300 Flexicars available around Melbourne and we select locations carefully to be able to provide Flexicars to you when you need them. If you feel like you have a location that would benefit from a Flexicar pod nearby or you have any requests for models, send us an email and let us know.
If you realise during your booking that you are going to be late returning the car, you can log on to our website or apps to extend your booking so long as there is no-one with another booking straight after you.
We do understand that things do happen and sometimes they’re beyond your control, so if you let us know you’ll be late at least 30 minutes before the end of your booking and there is no booking after yours, we can extend your booking without penalty. If you return the car late and there is another member waiting, and you haven’t told us that you will return the car late, then, unfortunately, there will be an additional fee.
You may also need to pay the reasonable costs incurred by the inconvenienced member (which may be the cost of a taxi). If you have any doubt about being able to make it, then book the car for extra time.
You can extend or shorten a booking before the beginning of your booking period without penalty if no other member has booked the car for that period. To avoid incurring any fees and inconveniencing another driver, you must cancel or change your booking at least four hours before your booking starts.
Flexicar is required by law to advise the relevant issuing authority of the identity of the driver if a driving infringement is incurred by our of our cars. We will pass on to you any infringements such as parking tickets, speeding fines, red-light, bus-lane violations and other official penalties plus a $25 admin fee.
Flexicars are parked in designated parking bays called ‘pods’. When you make a booking, you will book a car in a particular location and the details of the location will be sent to you on the booking confirmation email.
We’ve got super sleek new Pin Pad technology installed on our Flexicars. When you have made a booking, you will receive a SMS 15 minutes prior to the start time with a unique 6 digit PIN code in it. The PIN code will also be available in your Flexicar App. This is the access code that you will use to unlock and then lock your Flexicar at the start and end of your booking. Once you arrive at your Flexicar, simply enter the 6-digit PIN code into the Pin Pad which is under the windshield on the drivers’ side of the Flexicar. A green pulse means the PIN has been accepted and your Flexicar will unlock. Red means you may have entered the PIN incorrectly and may need to try again.
Use your car as you would your own through your booking by using the keys to lock and unlock. When you return your Flexicar and to finish your booking, just enter the PIN code into the Pin Pad to lock the doors. Easy!
At the start of your booking, you will need to unlock your car via your 6-digit PIN code that you will receive 15 minutes before the booking starts on the Pin Pad device. You’ll find the keys in the car. They will generally be in the drivers’ door pocket; check the console and glove box if they are not as the previous member may have left them somewhere else. Use the keys to lock and unlock the Flexicar during the booking. At the end of your booking, you leave the keys inside the car where you found them, and lock the Flexicar with your 6-digit PIN code to lock the car and end your booking.
Yes - you can park the Flexicar in the car’s own allocated parking space. Unfortunately you cannot park in other Flexicar ‘pods’ though, as this would inconvenience other members driving other Flexicars. Personal vehicles are not permitted in the Flexicar bay at any time.
No. You’ll need to return your Flexicar to the same location you picked it up from at the start of your booking.
Breakdowns are rare, as our cars are new and well maintained. But if it happens, you need to report it to Flexicar by phone on 1300 36 37 80. Then either Flexicar and/or roadside assistance will come out to the car. You may be provided with alternative transport if necessary.
We ask that members take all their rubbish with them at the end of their booking so it is clean for the next driver. If the car isn’t left reasonably clean, then you may be liable for cleaning fees.
No. You can drive a Flexicar as far as you like, every hourly booking automatically includes unlimited kms and daily bookings include at least 100kms depending on your rate plan. After the first 100kms you will just be charged a per km fee for additional driving depending on your plan.
Yes, it’s important to not inconvenience other members by returning the car without fuel after your booking so please make sure to always check the fuel gauge at the beginning and before the end of your booking. Petrol cards are located in your Flexicar, see the Re:Member Manual kept in the driver-side door pocket for more information on using the petrol cards to fill up the car. If you do return a car at the end of your booking with less than 1⁄4 in the fuel tank, you will incur a fine.
Unfortunately we cannot provide child seats, roof or bike racks. But you are welcome to use your own.
There is strictly no smoking in Flexicars. Drivers who do smoke in our cars will incur a fine.
We love pets at Flexicar, so we have special pet-friendly Flexicars, pets must still be carried in a pet carrier. There are some strict conditions for this and fines do apply if the car isn’t left in an acceptable condition. Don’t forget, some people are very allergic to animals (and mess)
No. If you let someone drive who isn’t an authorised Flexicar member then he or she won’t be protected by our damage cover and you will be charged a penalty. If others in your household or business wish to join, they can be added to the same account, they will just need to join online and pay any applicable annual damage cover fees.
If swiping is your thing, we have swipe cards - Flexicards - available to you for a small fee. Instead of using the PIN code, you swipe in and out on the top of the Pin Pad device to unlock and lock your Flexicar. You can have both: you’ll still be sent the PIN code before your booking, but can use either to access your Flexicar. If you would like to request a Flexicard, just give our friendly Member Care Team a call on 1300 36 37 80. A Flexicard costs $9.99.
If you have an accident then you should:
1. Make the car is secure and inform the police and emergency services immediately on 000 if anyone is injured or if there’s a disagreement about the circumstances of the accident. It’s recommended that you don’t admit fault at this time.
2. If there are other vehicles involved, make a note of the car registration number and the names, addresses and licence numbers of the driver/s.
3. Make a note of the names and addresses of any witnesses.
4. Call Flexicar immediately on 1 300 36 37 80.
We have no joining fees at Flexicar and businesses will incur no annual membership fees, so you will only ever pay for your reservations. If you choose one of these discounted plans, the first month’s driving credit is pre-paid when you sign up. Other than that there are no costs up front for a business.
Choose one of three Flexicar business plans based on the amount of driving your business expects to do on a monthly basis. We cover all your driving costs including registration, cleaning, maintenance and petrol.

We cover all your driving costs including registration, maintenance, cleaning, petrol and unlimited kms with every hourly booking.
Our annual membership fee for students is only $35 and includes fully comprehensive damage cover and free 24/7 roadside assistance. There is a standard excess of $1500, but you can reduce your excess to $400 by opting to pay a surcharge of $2 per hour capped at $15 per day.
